Who was this David Hilbert and what does he have to do with a hotel? In her self-illustrated adventure game, Marlene Knoche answers these questions and raises more. New puzzles and exciting stories about great mathematicians await behind every room door of Hilbert's Hotel. Anyone who believes that these mathematicians only spent their lives at a desk should be prepared for surprises. Only one thing is certain: Hilbert still has a room available.
Marlene Knoche is a freelance artist and illustrator. After studying computer science, she worked as a software developer for several years. Today, she brings colour to the world of science: in her illustrations, she combines her two passions and uses the art of entertainment to make complex topics more accessible.
The MIP.labor is an ideas workshop for science journalism in mathematics, computer science and physics. With an attractive fellowship programme, we support journalists and other media professionals who want to shed journalistic light on topics in mathematics, computer science or physics. We work with fellows and scientists to develop new formats, especially for young target groups. In this way, the MIP.lab strengthens science journalism - for a reflective social participation in the world of science. The MIP.lab is based at the Freie Universität Berlin and is made possible by the Klaus Tschira Foundation.
I was lucky enough to act as one of the mentors and scientific councils in the development phase of the game. Needless to say that Marlene and the members from the MIP.labor did a fantastic job putting together this whole enterprise. I'm honoured to have taken a small part in this endeavour.
